DESIGN DIVISION RULES

l. Fresh plant material from local gardens dominates the show. It does not have to be grown by the exhibitor. It may never be dyed or colored and artificial (silk, plastic, whatever), is NEVER permitted. All  designs are to be constructed of ALL fresh plant material unless otherwise stated in the schedule as “dried” or “designer’s choice”.

2. “Dried” designs (Wed. #79, 84, 85, & 100) require ALL dried plant material. Dried material may be treated (painted, glycerined etc.) in any way. Dried designs must be new this year.

3. “Designer’s Choice” applies to the type of plant material (fresh and/or dried) as well as to the type of design (traditional or creative).

4. Flowers may be purchased for classes #94 thru #99 and #119 thru #124 since advanced planning with other components is necessary.

5. Fresh fruits and vegetables may be purchased but must not be cut.

6. Contrived flowers of recognizable plant material are permitted.

7. Landscapes/scenes are not accepted.

8. The American flag may not be used as an underlay or a background for a floral design, nor may it be an accessory or a featured object of a design.

9. Please bring exhibits ready for staging. The committee reserves the right to place exhibits for best staging, so be sure they are constructed so they can be moved if necessary. Classification Chairman will check your entry for conformance before you leave.

10. The Committee cannot be responsible for damage to, or loss of, properties. Address label on underside of container is recommended.

11. Entry tag stubs must be presented for removal of exhibits Thursday evening after 8 pm and Sunday afternoon from 1-7 pm.

ALCOVE – (#94 & #119) is 40” high, 24” wide at back, and 18” deep (wings are approximately 15” deep), painted dark brown. Additional background and drapes permitted.

PEDESTAL – (#95 & #120) is approximately 42” high, 18” diameter, painted white.

TABLES: - SINGLE SETTING – (#96 & #121) Requires appointments for one setting, decorative unit (centerpiece), placemat or cloth. Space provided is 30” by 30” on green covered table. No background.

ROUND FUNCTIONAL – (#97 & #122) . Table is 42” diameter for two settings. Table must be centered under cloth with some overhang.

FUNCTIONAL for four –(#98 & #123) is 42” x 60”. The 60” is the front. Cloth should have about a 10” drop in front.

EXHIBITION TABLE – background is 36” high, 28” wide and 20” deep. Type I (#99) requires a decorative unit (think centerpiece) and one place setting. Type II (#124) requires plant material in the total exhibit, but not in a container.

ALL ITEMS ON TABLES MUST REMAIN FOR THE DURATION OF THE SHOW.

ALL COMPONENTS ARE USED AT YOUR OWN RISK. Do not use flatware. Flowers, foliage, fruits, vegetables and accessories permitted in the decorative units.

The committee furnishes 4 mirrored alcoves, 4 frames, 6 alcoves, 4 pedestals, 3 classes of tables with 4 each, and 4 exhibition table backgrounds. These classes require reservations and are marked with an asterisk(*). On one ticket, an exhibitor may enter one of each of these classes, EXCEPT ONLY 1 TABLE PER TICKET FOR THE WEEK. N.B. – THERE WILL BE NO PICK UP ON SATURDAY EVENING. Pick up time is Sunday, August 15 from 1 to 7 p.m. Please note that horticulture specimens entered Friday morning will not be saved for you after 1 p.m. Sunday unless you have affixed a sticker on your entry tag (available at the show) at entry time.
