In the event of death, the exhibitor must have a signed, original letter from a veterinarian. If a market hog project dies before June 15, the participant has one week (7 days) to purchase a replacement animal. If a project dies on June 15 or after, the project may not be replaced. If an animal dies, the Species Coordinator must be notified immediately.
Swine - General Regulations
1. Market hogs must weigh a minimum of 210 pounds in order to be sold in the Livestock Sale.
2. On May 1st market hogs must be owned and cared for by the exhibitor.
3. Market hogs must be on dry feed on and after May 1.
4. Jr. Fair market hogs must be tagged by June 1, 2007
a. Tag numbers must be reported with barn/animal registration forms.
5. A total of five (5) market hogs may be exhibited and sold by a Jr. Fair participant during the Jr. Fair calendar year (Oct. 1- Sept. 30).
6. Jr. Fair Participants that would like to exhibit market hogs at the Harvest Home Fair must submit a request with their individual project enrollment by April 1, 2007.
a. Jr. Fair participants interested in exhibiting a Market Hog will participate in a lottery drawing, for the selection of Jr. Fair participants to exhibit at the Harvest Home Fair.
b. If a participant’s hog project is not chosen in the lottery, they may bring that project(s) to the county fair.
c. Jr. Fair participants are responsible to designate on the barn/animal registration forms how many hogs will be entered at each fair.
d. The lottery results will affect this number.
7. Swine exhibitors may not slick clip or body shave market hogs except on the ears, tail and underline.
a. If questions arise regarding the length of body hair on a swine project, the Species Coordinator/Educator will measure the body hair.
b. The body hair length needs to be at least inch in length or the market hog in question will be disqualified from showing and selling at the 2007 Hamilton County Junior Fair.
8. If an exhibitor or parent questions whether a market hog has been slick clipped or body shaved, the Grievance Procedure (pg. 8-9) must be followed.

A - $6.00
B - $5.00
C - $4.00
Exhibits will be graded on an A, B and C basis, and placed on a 1, 2 and 3 basis.
Awards and/or Rosettes will be awarded to First, Second, and Third Place in each class.

Open to all Jr. Fair participants age 8-18 showing a specie for the FIRST TIME EVER.
