PLEASE READ ALL OF THE RULES CAREFULLY

1. ONLY NON-PROFESSIONAL FLOWER GROWERS MAY ENTER CLASSES IN THIS DEPARTMENT.

2. All exhibitors must purchase a Membership or Exhibitor ticket, that  they may obtain in advance to assure admittance to the grounds on the first day, by sending their names and addresses with checks payable to the:

3. One entry permitted in each design class. See rule 10 for Horticulture classes. Entries must follow classes as listed in the schedule. All Entries to Be in Writing and Must Be Registered with the Entry Clerk by 11 a.m. on both entry days so clerks may record correct information for premiums. Use separate piece of paper for list of  entries which must include your name, address, club affiliation, if any, and your ticket number. Entry tags (to be attached to each specimen or design) may be obtained in advance from the Fair Office.

4. EXHIBITS MUST BE IN PLACE BY 11 a.m. Entries arriving after that time will not be judged and will be placed in Exhibition Only Section. Only judges and committee members allowed in exhibit area after 11 a.m.

5. Decision of the judges is final. Awards will not be given unless merited.

6. Both Horticulture and Artistic Design Entries will be received after 8:30 a.m. and be ready for judging by 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10 and Friday, August 13. They may not be removed before Thursday, August 12 1 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, August 15 from 1 – 7 p.m. (For Horticulture pick up see below, rule #11).

 

HORTICULTURE DIVISION

1. Specimens must be grown by the exhibitor (a specimen is a single bloom, spike, stalk, stem or spray of plant material) and must be correctly labeled as to name and variety.

2. The committee reserves the right to subdivide classes. Classification chairman decides placement of exhibit.

3. Green glass bottles will be furnished for staging specimens. If entry is too large or heavy for a quart or liter bottle, exhibitor must  provide a glass bottle of sufficient size to adequately support the  specimen (preferably green glass). Labeled bottles are not acceptable.  This may be the case in classes 2, 3, 15, 22f and 23.

4. The Tuesday, August 10 and Friday, August 13 show will use the same horticulture schedule. Tuesday specimens MAY NOT be reentered on Friday.

5. No diseased or bug infested entries will be accepted.

6. No oiling or foreign substance allowed on foliage.

7. No foliage permitted below the water line. (EXCEPT GLADS)

8. Wedging material will be available.

9. Collections must be in separate containers grouped by a mat, frame, ribbon etc. Classes 21, 38, 43 and 44. This is one entry on one tag.

10. Exhibitor may make more than one entry per class if each is a different variety, type or color. Enter distinguishing characteristic (e.g. variety name) on entry tag. Classification Chairman determines placement when questionable.

11. Potted plants may be picked up Thursday night at 8 p.m.and Sunday 1 to 7 p.m. Cut specimens will be discarded at those times. If return of specimen is desired, a colored spot sticker must be affixed to the entry tag when submitting that entry. (Spots will be available at the show). Unclaimed ribbons go to the Fair Office at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 15.

Hanging planters will be staged with soil at eye level; plant material must not touch the floor. #66, 67 and 68 (one plant) must have been in the care of the exhibitor for 3 months. Class #69 (a combination of plants) must have been in the care of the exhibitor 6 weeks.
